2009-2010 Board of Directors

President - Wayne D.

Wayne has been a member of the Dallas Bears since 2001. Wayne joined after attending his first TBRU. Since that time Wayne has held the positions of Secretary, Vice-President, Treasurer for the last five years, was designated as the Incorporator of the organization in 2002 and served two years as the TBRU Co-Chair. Wayne was first drawn to the Dallas Bears by the excitement of the Texas Bear Round-Up. As an experienced event planner he found TBRU an exciting challenge and a rewarding experience knowing that the work to make a fun event helped to benefit some wonderful charities in the Dallas area.

"I am excited to serve this year as President and know that we have a fantastic time ahead of us. I invite our members and friends to come together in the Spirit of Fun and Fellowship to work in harmony and enjoy each others company as we serve our community. We are an opening and welcoming group. Whether you are a Bear, Cub, Admirer or Friend,  I invite you to join us at one of our socials or a membership meeting. Vice President - Tony R.

Tony has been part of the Dallas Bears for almost three years. He served as the Social Chair for the 2008-2009 year and has been active on the TBRU committee for the last two years as the Vendors Market chair.

Tony was first drawn to the Dallas Bears because of the charity work and community involvement that the group does.

"I feel that no matter what a person has or does not have they can always give some of their time to make the life of someone else a little better and this in turn makes our own life better.  I get so much enjoyment out of knowing that what I put into the Dallas Bears and TBRU brings some comfort and relief to those that are part of our charities. The charity work is what brought me to the Dallas Bears but the friendships I have made within the group has kept me a part of the group and set me into my current postion. I believe that the guys of the group are some of the greatest guys that I have met since mvoing to Dallas almost four years ago."

Treasurer - Robert D.

Robert joined the Dallas Bears in the first quarter of 2009. He had always had friends in the organization and finally decided to join. "The fellowship and community support the Bears promotes and provides is what convinced me to join."

 Originally hailing from Houston, TX, Robert moved to Dallas in December of 2000. For the last 13 years, he has worked for a very successful private Real Estate Investment company where he manages the Technical Training Department - specifically training Accounting software.

 "My life in the gay community started back in 1987 where I discovered “the bars.” I’ve always known I was different, but I had no idea I would become Devon DeVasquez. That’s right…I’m also a female impersonator. Devon was born in the bars of Houston. I’ve always been a charity fundraiser. I dove right into the charity community when my cousin passed away from complications of HIV. My determination became intense. I knew I wasn’t rich or very smart, but I could entertain and fundraise. That is still the driving force behind my community involvement. There have been many titles in my history, all for charity organizations or clubs."

Secretary - Kevin K.

Kevin has been a member of the Dallas Bears since September of 2007.  Since joining the Bears, Kevin has served on the Membership and TBRU Committees and is looking forward to serving as the club’s Secretary for this next year.

Kevin was first introduced to the Dallas Bears through a fellow member of the club.  It was through his presentence that Kevin finally attended his first club meeting and found himself immediately drawn to the group. "Having grown up in rural east Texas, there are very few opportunities to socialize with other individuals that share your same perspectives. I was made to feel so welcome that first meeting and have made numerous friends since. Since joining the club, the club has continued to grow and yet the closeness of the group still remains intact."

Besides the friendships made through the club, Kevin takes pride in being a part of a club that makes a big impact on the community. "Most know the Bears as the group that puts on the biggest bear run in Texas, but few realize the financial impact it makes on different charities throughout the Dallas community. I enjoy giving back to those that have given me so much."

"The thing I am most looking forward to as a board member is the chance to serve alongside my fellow club members. This is a chance for me to give back to a club that has given me so much over the last two years. There are some great opportunities that lie ahead for the club in the coming year and I am looking forward to a very exciting year."

Social Coordinator - Dyman C.

Dyman has been a member of the Dallas Bears since September 2008.  Dyman was drawn to the Dallas Bears because of his love of helping others and to connect with a group of guys with the same interest.

"I am excited about the new year ahead because of all the new ideas that each new board member has for the group to do.  Also the opportunity to add more members to the great group of bears we already have."

Ambassador - Chris B.

Chris has been a member of the Dallas Bears since October of 2008 and "has loved every minute of it. I feel honored to be a member of a group this great. What we do for our community is incredible and well respected by everyone."

"Since joining the bears I have made many of what I consider to be life long friendships. I've also met my wonderful husband through the organization as well. Currently I'm Mr. TBRU CUB and plan on representing TBRU and the Dallas Bears well.

I would like to thank everyone for their support in electing me for your Ambassador for this year and if there is anything that I can do for you guys then just let me know. Be sure to come out and see me slinging drinks at your Dallas Eagle and remember I'm "shy" HAHAHA.  Hugs, tugs, and lots of kisses."

Historian - "Chip" Steve R.

Chip has been an active member of the Bears for some time now.  He is always willing to help out where ever he's needed - even during those late nights at TBRU.

Chip is also the current Lord (President) of the Leather Knights.

Web Master - Charles N.

Charles joined the Bears the first quarter of 2009 after becoming friends with several members.  He was immediately drawn to the comraderie and charity prevalent in the club and wanted to be a part of it.

Charles is an Information Technology consultant and early on in his membership offered his assistance with the technology needs of the club.
